Back to Kosair...

All day Luke has been lethargic and slept a lot. This evening he was being extra clingy. He felt really warm so I took his temperature around 9:15 pm, and it was 102.5 and climbing! I called Dr Gadre at home and he said to give Luke his pain medicine (hydrocodone, aka Tylenol- a fever reducer) and wait an hour. About that time joe came in and said the thermometer now read 103.1, Dr Gadre said "get him to Kosair ER" We arrived about 10:00 and his fever has fallen to 102.5 ( we did go ahead and give him a dose of pain med before leaving so that's why his temp fell). A nuerologist came and checked him out, Dr Gadre was great and called ahead of us so they would know what to do with us! At this point they don't know what is causing the fever. His left ear tube is blocked and looks like an infection might be starting but that should t have caused a fever spike like ours. The fear is if the fluid in his right cochlea has infection that fluid is shared with the brain and the infection could spread to his brain. They have decided to admit him. Best case scenario he will be out tomorrow afternoon after being pumped with fluids and antibiotics. Worse case, he is here longer.
As a side note they removed the bandages from his head and we got our first peek! It looks pretty good I think, it definitely makes it more real.
We appreciate everyone prayers- they are priceless right now! We know Luke is a tough little guy and gonna be ok! Thanks to Amanda for rushing over to stay with Nate and Connie for coming down too! We are so blessed!!!
