{Luke's Hearing, Part IV}

Today Luke had some more hearing tests in the booth.  He has had hearing aids a little over a month and we were testing to see if they improved his word recognition.  He did show some signs of improvement, but his word recognition is still poor.  One test they do is give him a book of pictures of items that sound similar (cat, hat, bat / boat, coat) and then ask him to point to one.  All of the pictures are of items that he recognizes and would be able to point at if he could hear the word.  He really struggles to point at the right one.  In his right ear he scored 64%, meaning 64% of the time he picked the correct picture.  So by reverse that means 36% of the time he guessed because he couldn't hear.  In his left ear he scored 56%.  It is a little sad to see him struggle, but I know the testing is for his good!  He is a trooper and tries so hard and does exactly what they ask of him.  We are still hoping insurance will change and cochlear implant will be covered - especially as we see just how much he doesn't hear.  As always, we appreciate prayers!
