Well, he looks drugged - but I swear he's not! Luke got his hearing aids today! We are working with Heuser Hearing Institute and while we are jumping through the hoops to get to a cochlear implant a company called Oticon loans hearing aids to help with hearing while we wait. They are brand new and programmed just for Luke! Thank you Oticon! We can use them for 6-18 months while we work out the details of the CI, free of charge! This set retails at $6000! Such an amazing thing this company does and we are soooooo grateful!
The first thing Luke heard was Nate cleaning up some legos, throwing them into a bucket. As each lego hit the bucket you could see Luke's eyes flutter - he wasn't used to hearing that sound! Such a special moment. He was nervous to talk at first and just looked around eyes wide in amazement and confusion. Can you even imagine?!?
Joe is petitioning his employer to cover CI for the next calender year. We are praying that they will change the plan, but if not we will start fundraising. So many people are researching options and charities for us and we are so grateful for everyone's enthusiasm to help Luke! We are holding off on contacting anyone until we know for sure Joe's company isn't changing the plan (because we are holding out that they will!)
